These 1950-60 moccasins were purchased on the Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation. They had been worn by a tribal member who was the seller. The beaded tops and sides are done in a great "flame" design. The soles are slightly worn rawhide. The tops are brain tanned deer leather. The seed beads used are solid color sky blue (for the background), red, yellow, black and a opalescent white. The designs on the side are more typical geometric plains designs, the top design is a bit unusual and really attractive.
The moccasins are in perfect condition other than the slight wear to the soles. They are 9.5" long, 4.5" across at widest and stand 3.25" high to top of sides. (size is approximately a women's size 8 or a man's size 6)
