A stunningly realistic hummingbird of porcupine quill hovers above a purple blossom on this traditional round birch bark box. More purple flowers, connected by a vine with leaves grace the sides of the box. Paul St John, Mohawk craftsman uses variegated purple dyed porcupine quills for the flowers, and variegated green dyed quills for the leaves and vine. The centers of the flowers are made of yellow dyed quills. The hummingbird has red, teal green, and black dyed quills with some natural white with tan tip quills. There is a teal green dyed quill border on the outer edges of the lid. The overhang of the lid is made with coiled tidal sweetgrass.
This traditional birch bark box is 5.5" in diameter and stands 4" tall. There are 5 slightly smaller purple flowers around the sides of the box ... all have 4 petals with a yellow center.
